Yang Bay lies in a valley in the upland district of Khanh Vinh, west of Nha Trang. The name comes from Raglai and means something close to “heaven’s waterfall” — this has long been Raglai territory.
The water drops through a series of rock steps in the forest, forming shallow pools shallow enough to bathe in. The area has been developed as a visitor site with walkways, food outlets and cultural performances.
Being well inland and higher up, Yang Bay is noticeably cooler than the coast — a good call on a fierce day, and the only thing on a Nha Trang itinerary that shows you forested mountains instead of sea.
It is about 45 km from the centre, roughly an hour by road heading west. The drive through Khanh Vinh is handsome in its own right and counts as part of the outing. Allow half a day at least, or a full one.
After heavy rain the flow rises sharply — follow the site’s guidance on whether the pools are open rather than judging by eye. Bring dry clothes and shoes you don’t mind soaking.
One note on expectations: this is an organised attraction with an admission gate and scheduled performances, not a wild fall in untouched forest. Knowing that in advance helps you arrive in the right frame of mind.
